Love Travel Planning Allergy Translation Card Mock Up

These free food allergy translation cards are designed to remove the uncertainty of second guessing every meal. Giving you a simple, clear way to communicate peanut, tree nut and sesame allergies in over 12 languages.

Each card is written to be understood by chefs, waiters, and emergency responders, so you’re not relying on Google Translate in a high risk moment.

Why these allergy cards matter more than you think

On the surface, the word allergy often translates easily, the problem is everything around it. While terms like peanut, tree nut & sesame can be translated, how they’re understood – especially in a busy kitchen, isn’t always consistent — that’s where miscommunications happen. We have developed these cards to simplify that interaction by:

  • Clearly stating your allergy in direct, kitchen friendly language.
  • Grouping allergens into recognised categories (peanuts, tree nuts, sesame).
  • Removing the need for on-the-spot translations or guesswork.
  • Helping you start a clear conversation with staff.

They are not about replacing awareness, they are about making that first interaction as clear as possible.

How to use your allergy translation card

1. Download (before you travel)

Save it to your phone and take a printed copy, don’t rely on signal or battery. We’ve formatted these for printing, so if you can, use a local printer and get it laminated. That way, you can reuse it across multiple trips. If not, a standard online printer will do the job.

2. Present it early

Hand the card over as soon as you sit down, or even, when you arrive if it’s quiet. This gives staff time to understand your allergy properly and prepare safely, rather than reacting at the point of ordering.

3. Ask for confirmation

Each card prompts the server to check with the kitchen, but don’t assume it’s been done. If they don’t confirm, it’s usually a sign to move on and find somewhere else.

A quick but important note

These cards are designed to support communication, not replace it. If you have a specific allergy (for example, cashews), it’s worth learning how to say it out loud in the local language as well. Think of the card as your starting point, not your only line of defence.
