The reality is that some people like to plan, and others don’t. Some people have lots of time to plan, and others don’t. Some people find planning daunting, and others don’t. You get the picture…
Whatever your relationship with planning, the right approach can prevent it feeling like a chore. So, to take the pain out of planning, I’ve pulled together everything that I’ve learned whilst putting together trips for our family over the years – from finding destinations and activities that work for everyone, stretching budgets and figuring out what’s actually worth the time and money, but overall trying to create special travel memories to last a lifetime.
Whether you’re planning a quick weekend escape, or a once in a lifetime family adventure, Love Travel Planning is here to help. My blogs are packed with stories and practical tips based on my own experiences – advice that will help you take control of your own travel plans.
The world is bursting with incredible places to explore, so many that we are likely only to skim the surface on our travels.
Where you choose to visit will depend on many factors, such as, when you can travel, who you are travelling with and what sort of experience you hope to create, where it is lounging on a tropical beach, hiking in the mountains, or pounding the pavement on a city break.
My Destinations page is here to help you find the one that’s just right for you.
The destinations featured on Love Travel Planning are places that I’ve visited either with the family over the years, or as a couple, with or without friends – destinations to suit different requirements, and advice to help you make the most of every moment of your trip.

Not all holidays offer the same types of experience, which is half the fun of deciding where and how to travel. Maybe, like me, you love the freedom of road trips? Or perhaps you prefer the thrill of exploring new cities? Or relaxing on a villa holiday? Whatever your travel motivation, the Types of Travel page on this website is full of ideas to match your interests and make your trip unforgettable.
From experience, I know that travelling with children can add additional challenges, and rewards, which is why you’ll find blogs about keeping little ones (and teenagers) entertained, adjusting travel days to suit the ages you are travelling with, and packing like a pro.
No matter what your family’s preferred style of travel, I’ll offer ideas and advice to make your journey as much fun as the destination
Sometimes all you need is a quick weekend getaway, or change of scene, to recharge your batteries. At other times, a longer trip is needed to fully unwind or immerse yourself in a new destination.
Generally work circumstances, or limits of school holidays, will dictate the length of your stay, so it’s more a case of deciding where to go in the time that you have allocated.
If you some ideas of where to go for how long, then head to the Length of Stay page. Whether it’s a short break or a month-long adventure, I’ll help you plan a trip that feels just right for you.
The answer to this question depends on what sort of experience you are looking to have, and whether you are travelling with younger or older children. If you’re dreaming of a relaxing beach holiday, places like Cornwall or Ibiza are always a winner.
If you fancy something more adventurous, then Costa Rica would be the perfect destination further afield or the Snowdonia area of Wales closer to home, with loads of outdoor activities on offer.
And let’s not forget the magic of theme parks—Disneyland is always a crowd-pleaser for kids (and adults too!) in Paris for close to home and Florida for further afield or a longer trip.
Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find loads of ideas on my Destinations page, where I’ve put together family-friendly recommendations, tips on where to go, and advice to help you choose the perfect spot for your trip.
Holidays don’t have to cost a fortune — there are so many ways to keep costs down and still have an amazing time. I’ve found that maximising reward schemes for airlines and hotels can help save money, in addition to travelling off-peak, booking early, and choosing self catering accommodation rather than hotels. Opting for a staycation, or a road trip, can be a great way to cut costs without sacrificing the fun or adventure.
On my Resources page, I’ve shared information about how we maximise airline reward schemes and hotel reward schemes to help our travel budget stretch further.
