The ‘where to go when’ ethos is the idea of choosing destinations based on the best time of year to visit, whether that’s because of good weather, fewer crowds, or exciting local events.
When planning trips and family holidays, considering ‘where to go when’ is an essential part of your planning process as it helps you avoid being washed out by the rain, or travelling when it’s too hot for you, too busy, or too expensive.
For families, using this approach can be a lifesaver, for example, Spring might be perfect for exploring European cities with little ones, while Winter can be perfect for a sunshine trip to Florida, USA, to escape the UK’s cold weather. Planning your trips this way ensures that everyone—from toddlers to teens—has a great time, and you get the most out of your family’s precious time together.

Love Travel Planning offers destination suggestions across Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. Each Continent is vast, with different countries, regions and endless travel opportunities – from Asia’s rich cultural history, to Europe’s stunning architecture, to North America’s diverse landscapes, and Oceania’s laid back, sun soaked charm. Wherever you want to go, there is an amazing destination waiting for you.
Whether you want to take a road trip in Canada, experience a night in the desert in Oman, explore the colourful lagoon islands of Venice, or renew your wedding vows in Las Vegas, Love Travel Planning has these suggestions and more to help you choose your next destination getaway.
While this is just a beginning, this website will be developed to expand its reach, hopefully to cover every Continent and help travellers plan their perfect journey, wherever they want to go.
The Americas, namely the continents of North America (including Central American countries) and South America, span over 30,000 kms from top to bottom, with different climates, landscapes and sights along the way – offering plenty to explore.
There is so much to explore in Europe – castles in Germany, mountains in Switzerland, vineyards in France, windmills in the Netherlands, Roman artefacts in Italy, and stunning islands in Greece – all close together and easily accessible by train.
The Middle East is an area rich in history – once considered the ‘cradle of civilisation’ it is a fascinating part of the world to visit. Whether you enjoy a desert experience, shop in the souks, or explore the ultra modern cities, the Middle East is a region of contrasts.
Oceania is the continent with the smallest land mass but what it lacks in land mass, it makes up for in natural beauty and opportunities to get out into the great outdoors. You will be amazed by its beauty and the options to create amazing memories.
The UK comprises England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and all these countries have their own traditions and personalities to discover. As the UK is relatively small, you can easily travel around to visit a lot of different places in a relatively short time.
Choosing a destination doesn’t have to be a chore, but there are some steps to consider before you start booking.
Who and What? The first step is to confirm who you are travelling with and establish what type of holiday you (and they) want – a relaxing beach holiday, exploring city break, or a longer road trip adventure.
When? The timing of the trip can be just as important as the destination, for instance, Europe in December offers magical Christmas markets, while the Middle East in February provides an escape to warm, but sunny moderate climates. Matching your destination to your trip goals and also the time of year for travel, are more likely to lead to a rewarding holiday experience.
Where? Then you can apply the ‘where to go when’ ethos to work out some destination options, and look at potential costs for travel to these places, before finalising your choice.
On the flip side, you might have a particular destination in mind and decide to work a whole trip around that destination, such as seeing the tulips in bloom in the Netherlands. At least your destination goal is clear and then you can work backwards, putting all the plans in place for your special trip.

The best time to visit a destination depends on what you are looking for. Here are my recommendations depending on the season:
In Europe, summer is the perfect time for basking in the sun on Mediterranean beaches or islands, such as Ibiza, Spain or island hopping in Greece. Spring or autumn are great times to explore European cities, such as Amsterdam, Berlin or Hamburg.
Winter offers the opportunity to visit cosy markets, such as in York or Vienna, or the chance to ski in the Alps.
The Middle East, such as Oman and the UAE (Dubai) are ideal to visit between November and March for winter sun when it’s not too hot. Other parts of Asia may differ because it is such a vast area, so it’s best to consider each country’s climate individually.
North America offers year round options, from Florida’s sunny winters, to California’s clear skies around Easter, summer beach vibes in Massachusetts, Virginia’s stunning autumn foliage and New York’s charm around Christmas.
Canada is perfect to visit in July and August when you can immerse yourself in outdoor activities and wildlife spotting. Costa Rica is perfect in Spring, but also wonderful at other times in the year.
Oceania’s reverse seasons make it a top choice for a warm getaway during the UK’s colder months.
Again because the region is so large, a simple swap in weather is not so straightforward, for example, Perth and Southwest Western Australia are perfect to visit around Easter time, but the northern coastline from Perth up to Broome and the Kimberley are better over the UK summer months (as is Uluru). Tasmania, and New Zealand are further south so are better visited earlier in the year if possible.
