Longer stays

For those with more time for their travels, longer stays  – those of more than two weeks – are a great chance for extended adventures or travels much further away from home.  Whilst you might not get an opportunity for longer travel very often, when you do, there is an opportunity to go somewhere or do something extremely special.

Whether it’s a road trip across multiple countries or regions, a trip much further away from home on a long-haul journey, or renting accommodation in one place, longer stays offer plenty of time to truly get under the surface of a place and switch off.  We have found three weeks to be the perfect length of time for a road trip, allowing us to cover more ground and explore more places in-between, but not so long that our dog has forgotten us when we get home!

Ideas for longer stays:

Costa Rica Road Trip

This incredible road trip offers real variety with sloth spotting, outdoor activities in the cloud forest, hot volcanic springs, and turtle egg laying beaches.  The distances manageable making it a great road trip with the family – a joy from start to finish.

Pacific Northwest Road Trip

On this circular road trip from Seattle, take a ferry to the hidden gems that are the San Juan Islands, USA, to look for killer whales. Then take ferries to and from Vancouver Island, Whistler and Vancouver in Canada, before dropping back down into the States.

Southwestern Australia Road Trip

Perth, Australia, is your starting point for this incredible road trip heading South West along the coast via Margaret River, to the ultimate destination of Esperance and the Cape Le Grand National Park.  If you’re lucky, you might meet kangaroos on the beach!.
