Italy is a long country with the Mediterranean Sea on either side, and borders with France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia to the north. Italy also surrounds the world’s two smallest countries – Vatican City and San Marino. Some say that Italy is shaped like a ‘high heeled boot’ which gives it a distinctive shape on the map. It has around 450 islands, including Sicily, Sardinia and Capri.
The food of Italy is often said to be ‘the food of love’ and when you visit Italy you will find out why – with regional variations, and some of the best olive oils, you will eat very well everywhere here. Aside from the food, you can learn more about Roman history through the incredible buildings built during this time, and enjoy stunning architecture and art in the cities, dreamy hill top towns in the countryside and a sense of style and fashion wherever you go in Italy.
Puglia
Puglia, or Apuglia, is a region in the Southeastern part of Italy, comprising ‘the heel of Italy’s boot’. It offers stunning rocky Mediterranean coastline, white washed hilltop towns, unique trulli houses, and Baroque architecture in the city of Lecce. There is much to love!
Rome
A visit to the Eternal City is one which you will never forget – a stunning city best explored on foot to make sure that you don’t miss anything, ancient buildings and monuments at every turn, fountains, columns, statues. There’s almost too much to take in!
Venice
Venice is truly one of a kind – a city built on islands in a lagoon, without cars, but with a network of ‘boat buses’ to help you get around. With 471 canals, beautiful canal side buildings, history and art, Venice is the perfect city to explore and get lost in before picking up some ciccetti and a Spritz!
