Greece sits in southeastern Europe, neighbouring Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Albania. In addition to mainland Greece, the country has nearly 2,000 islands, of which around 170 are inhabited, spread throughout the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Greece is a country of ancient history and stories, so dust off your Greek Mythology and be prepared to be amazed.
There is much to explore on the mainland, starting with the Capital city of Athens, one of the oldest cities in the world, and named after Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom and Warfare. Hire a car and explore the spectacular Peloponnese coast, visit the monastery on a raised rock formation in Meteora, or pick up one of the many ferries through the turquoise waters to island hop and experience a different assortment of stunning Greek islands.
