Germany is a large country in Western Europe, in fact it is the most populous country of the European Union. It shares borders with 9 different countries and lies between the Baltic Sea and North Sea to the north, and the Alps to the south. Germany’s full name is the Federal Republic of Germany, which comprises 16 constituent states.
The cities of Germany are filled with history which its difficult to ignore when you visit. Similarly they offer great cultural breaks for the visitor with plenty of world class art, museums and famous events, such as Oktoberfest in Munich. Outside the cities the landscape is perfect for outdoor pursuits in the mountains and forests, on the lakes and rivers, and by the beach in the north of the country. In addition there are fantastic vineyards and amazing food – it’s not all beer, bread and sausage!
Berlin
Berlin is both an historic and a cool city. Learn more about its history and divisions, or immerse yourself in art, culture and music (especially if you like Techno and electronic music!). Spend time on the river or chill in a Biergarten.
Hamburg
Hamburg is a wonderful city on the River Elbe, filled with canals and green spaces giving it a sense of openness. With a lively night life, lots of maritime history and great seafood restaurants, this port city is a great place to visit.
